Each morning for a week or so, I have been contemplating the time (or lack thereof) I have to get ready for the day. Some days I can take a shower, get dressed, do my hair and makeup. More often than not, I just barely have time to do what is necessary to get out the door and nothing more. So then I started wondering, what do you find necessary to get out the door?
Something else I've been thinking about is the way other people spend their money. People usually spend their money on what's most important to them. And I find it fascinating to discover what is important to people. Although I tend to gravitate toward sales and cheap prices, there are a few things I have to splurge on. I guess I really have two questions here. What do you spend your money on? And what do you just have to splurge on?

I'm terrible on both of your questions. I have to be completely put together, my children included before I will walk out the door, sometimes that calls for a very early morning, I try and tell myself no makeup is fine once in awhile, but I just can't do it. For the record this really bugs me about myself, I wish I could just let it go sometimes. So it probably makes sense that I spend way too much money on clothes, mostly for my kids, but I just have a thing for new clothes, I can't stop myself.
I will start out by saying that I am still in my pajamas from last night and I did make a Walmart run today-so apparently I don't need much. I actuality today was a rare day indeed. I feel like if I have on jeans a non-Tshirt, combed hair and at least some mascara on I am "decent". Anything else if Extra :)
As for what I spend money on...
I would say I am willing to spend money on ColdStone Icecream, a good toothbrush and good lotion.
THanks for adding me. Caleb and Savannah are SO big! wow. and of course adorable!
#1 - Never leave without my pants.
#2a - Food
#2b - Really good food
I agree with Tammy on the first one--always wear pants. Bonus points if they're sweats.
Second--I go cheap on everything, but I did buy a nice camera and a Dyson this year.
Before I go out the door (even to get the mail) I'm sure to put on at least jeans,a t-shirt, and a jacket. I always try to at least put mascara on if I'm going out.
Hmm, have to splurging for me probably comes mostly in the form of food items...like getting pickles or the brand of peanut butter I like. I don't usually buy non-food items i want, even if i think I want them...i'm kind of a cheapskate when it comes to myself.
I'm learning to compromise on getting out the door--finally bought a hat so I could leave without my hair done in a pinch. I keep a whole pack of diapers and wipes in the car (like 64) so I don't have to pack a diaper bag anymore.
Wish I weren't, but I'm a food splurger--and unfortunately not the gourmet type either: too much sugar.
You didn't answer your own questions....what about you?
To feel okay going out, usually i have to be wearing "real" pants an a decent shirt, mascara, and i try to do my hair (cursed short hair doesn't go into a ponytail) sometimes i wear a hat.
i splurge on food too, especially gluten-free food that brad can eat. and i love shopping at the outlet mall because i can feel like i'm splurging without spending as much as at the normal stores.
Good luck on your goal of owning a house. To answer your question, my house is what I spend money on. It's a never ending money pit. Remember that post about the tree growing into our roofline? for the past two weeks it's been causing the roof to creak and groan... it's getting worse and will cost a minimum of $650 to cut the branch off. Remember the post about the windows freezing? we're hoping to get a healthy tax return so we don't have ice building up on the inside of our windows next winter. On top of all this, I'm paranoid that I won't be able to afford any baby things: crib, car seat, dresser, etc.
As for what I splurge on, definitely food. Scott and I eat out once a week religiously (even if it's just at Subway, but we try to go to sit down places).
What I find necessary to get out the door, if I know I'm going somewhere very public, I have to have Jeans, a comfortable T-shirt, socks, shoes, a nice hair-style, and makeup, just so I can look presentable.
I spend my money, monthly, on things I find I need first, then buy what I want; I've never really thought about what I splurge on, at one point it was buying games for my Nintendo DS Lite, but now I watch my $30 budget every month.
I need mascara. I like eye shadow, eye liner and a little lipstick, but my only NEED is mascara. Also, because I only wash my hair every couple of days, I can usually get away with doing it one day and then just brushing it the next. (I hope I have to get ready really fast tomorrow because I did my hair today!)
I don't spend money on anything right now. Except the car is in the shop. (Email me if you want that story.) And if I had a job I would spend money on things I really, really need: a hair cut, new eye shadow (I barely have any left), more Cafe Rio salads, and a plane ticket to visit my family. But right now, no money on anything. Except the car. Grrr.
