Go to the bank. It's closed. Make a deposit anyway.
Go to the gas station. Get gas, buy a car wash because we really need one.
Car wash is very clean and wet. Joseph and Savanna are terrified and in tears. End car wash.
Hm. Power-steering goes out. That's strange. On to the Science Center. Car starts beeping unrelentingly. Battery light comes on. Takes all my energy to steer the car and pull into the Science Center parking lot. They're closed. Call my dad (a mechanic among other things). Open the hood. Yep, the serpentine belt is extremely loose.
Go straight to the car repair shop because it will probably overheat very soon. Call Bryan to get directions to car repair shop. Car starts to overheat. Pull over into the car repair shop. Yep, serpentine belt is loose. This model of car needs a water shield thingy that didn't originally come with the van. Apparently, it is common for the high-pressure water car washes to "float the belt." $35 and 2-hour wait.
Which means I got a $42 car wash that took 3 hours, and it's not even that clean.

Happy Martin Luther King Day! At least the car repair shop was open!
I remember that happening to me in the white van in HS when a bunch of rain skidded into the engine...scary! Glad to hear you at least made it to the car shop
Sounds like a hectic couple of hours.
Wow, that sucks. Although, the silver lining is that you only had to pay $35 for a car repair. Usually car repairs are hundreds of dollars. But then, who in the world designed a car that can't handle water without blowing up?
Ahh! I hate those learning experiences! My worst was when I learned that my medical insurance covered blood work done at the hospital as if I were inpatient. Translates to $300 to pay verses $10. That was a frustrating expensive lesson. Luckily we don't have that insurance anymore.
Boo!!!!!
Maybe the kids will enjoy the car wash when they are older; I always did! And even though it's a huge hassle, it least it wasn't more expensive! (Or during a time when $35 was a truly painful expense.)
Yeah guys, anytime your power steering goes out and your battery light comes on, it will mean something happened to the belt. The HUGE problem with that, is that the water pump isn't working either. The engine can quickly overheat, warp heads, blow pistons and cylinders, and ruin itself in no time!!! Watch the temperature, pull over, and turn off the engine! You can wait 10-15 minutes and then go about another mile before stopping again. That way you can leap frog to somewhere safe. BE CAREFUL! Engines aren't cheap.
Wow that really stinks. I hate it when stuff like that happens. So frustrating!!!
We got your Christmas card a while back! You have such a cute family!!!
The $42 car wash you will never forget! Stupid Chrysler engineers! It's a conspiracy!!!!!
