Mommy Brain

You've all heard of it. Many of you have had it. I submit that although there may be physiological links to Mommy Brain in the form of endocrinology, there is at least one other culprit.

The lack of time.

When I have time between poopy diapers, bottles, solid food, chauffeuring, and potty-training, I might be able to think things through; be logical; rationalize.

Many times this week I have suddenly had Eureka moments, and immediately realized that those moments should have been much more obvious than they had been.

Today I had a headache. Last week I had a headache for several days, along with some insomnia. Finally, I figured out that I was dehydrated, which gave me the headache, which caused me to have trouble sleeping. Today, I drank water to get rid of the headache, because that's probably why I had a headache, right? Well, it might have been, in part, a logical reason.

After feeding two kids lunch, giving two kids a bottle (did I tell you that I'm watching another 9.5-month-old full time?), packing four kids into the van, taking one kid to school, returning home, and feeding the babies some food and changing their diapers, I realized that I had not yet eaten. My body felt tired, I had the headache, and my stomach hurt. And yet, it never dawned on me that I might just be hungry. (Well, I'm probably dehydrated too, and lack of sleep never helps either.)

My name is Brianne. And I have Mommy Brain.

It sounds like you've got your hands full. I can't believe you watch another little one full-time, you are a trooper.

Yeah, I can't believe you're watching another one--no wonder you forget to eat!

I, too, have Mommy Brain. Like when I completely forget to take my kid to preschool. Yeah, love it.

You are seriously so funny. Know just what you mean. I can't believe you are watching someone's baby too. You are wonder woman!

Haha! I'm only laughing because I know what you mean, even though I'm not a Mommy. I experienced and saw that a lot when I lived with my sister's family and helped take care of her kids. I'm hoping to some how get organized enough that I'll be able to keep my whits about me when I have kids. Somehow I get the feeling I really can't organize my life enough to keep myself from getting Mommy brain later...but I'll try!

My name is Roseann. I have mommy brain, too. Funny thing is I have been going through the same thing - forgetting to eat, having headaches, being tired, and not really figuring out why. I had the same epiphany, only I think it took me about a month to figure it out. Way to be quicker! I never thought I could forget to eat. Welcome to the world of being a Mom - right?

My name is Dad, and I'm pooped just trying to keep up with your story. I also can't believe that we took on THREE extra children for awhile. I think our Mommy Brain and our Daddy Brain must have been Mush!
