So, I've been in a blogging rut. Not because I've run out of things to say (not sure that will ever happen). But mainly because I'm not sure what my readers want to read. Do you really want to hear about my kids when your kids are so much cuter (go ahead, you just keep thinking that...)? And do you really want to hear about me chasing them around all day? And aren't you getting sick of all my whining about how life is so hard? Thus, my rut.
I realize that I am only one of six-billion people, and that my life isn't more interesting than the next. However, if you are reading my blog, that means you are interested enough to take the time.
So, I declare this rut ended. I will still try not to overwhelm you with too many posts, but I will let you in on my random thoughts.
And the two I have today only indirectly involve my children.
Number One: I admit it. I am guilty. I bought a pizza tonight for dinner. I spent way too much money, it isn't healthy (although I could try to justify my way out of that one), and I ate too much. Shame on me. But I do justify myself that we haven't eaten out in a long time, so it's not so bad. And I justify my actions because Bryan had to stay at work and monitor dinner, and I hate (nay, detest) making dinner (with a 20-ish lb. weight attached to my leg) for only myself to enjoy. Not that I make dinner only for myself, I just don't get a lot of gratitude from the hungry mouths I feed.
Number Two: I am paranoid about dishcloths. Both the washcloths and the towels. Once they are clean, I am fine. But once they are dirty, I won't use them again until they are clean. So, I used about 6 towels and 7 washcloths (at least) today. Maybe my paranoia comes from smelling too many moldy cloths. And nothing is worse than using one, and then your hands smell like moldy cloths. So I probably add a whole extra load of laundry each week to my already out of control heap. Silly me, but I don't think I'll change it.
And Number Three (I know I only said 2, but the last one reminds me of something you should know): When you wash your laundry, you should start the water, add the soap, let it dissolve, then add your clothes. Otherwise you end up with holes in your clothes. So remember, water, soap, then clothes.

Funny. I had Pizza for dinner tonight too! Dominoes! Yay for Pizza. Unfortunately we eat way too much pizza unlike you. Oh- and I do the same thing with the dishcloths... except i also do it with my bath towels. And I use 2 - one to dry off and one for my hair. I'm so terrible!
Brandon says there is nothing wrong with using a new towel after you have only used the other one once. It probably cuts down on the germs. I agree, I hate it when they start to smell moldy.
I think as a mom you deserve a break now and again not to make dinner.
I think you should blog about whatever you want. I read everything, even if it is about your kids, or your hardships, or what you ate for dinner. I think it's all great. For me, a blog is kinda like a journal or a scrapbook. I plan to make my blog into a book and so I write a lot about my kids and frustrations, joys, etc. because I want to remember them. I think your blog is great and I'll keep on reading.
P.S. What if you use liquid detergent?
I think if you use liquid detergent, the same principle applies, just not the "dissolving." Basically pouring straight soap (enzymes, bleach, etc.) onto your clothes will eat away at your clothes and not just the germs. So mix it with the water to tone down the power touching your clothes.
The great thing about blogs is that you can post whatever you want, and if people are interested they'll read it, and if they're not, they won't. I myself love reading your blogs, they make me chuckle (yes, chuckle) and help me feel like I am not alone in my struggles and random idiosyncrasies. Keep posting!
ps... are you ready for us to come visit?!
Love your blog, keep writing. It's all interesting! I'm totally with you on the dish cloths!
I also go through wash cloths and dish towels plenty throughout the week. I was just thinking about how I need to get some more wash cloths due to that problem. I also would have to agree with the laundry idea. I always put water, soap, and then clothes.
your blogs are always fun to read - so rant and rave and express away!
i am totally with you on the washcloths/towels thing. i never use them (especially washcloths) more than once. it grosses me out. i am a germ-a-phobe. having this phobia doesn't help right now - because feel too icky to clean.
pizza. pizza rocks. this is my favorite food. and let me tell you a little pizza secret: you can make the YUMMIEST pizza for just a few bucks. buy your dough and sauce from winco! it's near all the cheeses. so you can have affordable and delicious "homemade" pizza whenever! we eat pizza ALL the time. and i hereby announce that it is HEALTHY AND NUTRITIOUS! :O)
