The Familial Anthem

Jose can you sleep 'til the dawn's early light?
What so tiredly we begged at the twilight's last gleaming.
Whose broad smiles and bright eyes through the perilous night,
Or the hours we watched when so violently screaming.
And the mommy's red glare when "bombs" bursting in air
gave proof through the night that our babe was still there.
Jose, we your bad-tempered manner yet waive
For the want of more sleep and the rest that we crave.

My least favorite part of having a baby: NO SLEEP!

Best wishes and Happy 4th!

You should sing this at a baseball game, just to see everyone's reaction:)

I agree Bryan, that would be awesome. Very clever Brianne, love it! Captures it perfectly.

9 pm on the 4th--James was ecstatic.

9 am on the 5th--James was teary non-stop.

Did midnight traffic on the fourth have anything to do with this?
Great poem.

I thought the line about 'violently screaming' was the best and truest to the original.
