I've Been Hit By a Mac Truck

It's true. In a Geo Metro. But that's a story for another day...

Today, I'm talking about a large amount of tiredness. I think the equation should go like this, assuming that a good night's sleep consists of 5 to 6 (1.5-hour) uninterrupted cycles of sleep:

Total time (TT): amount of time from start to finish
Time awake (TA): time within TT when not asleep
Amount of time spent in uninterrupted cycles (UC)
Amount of time spent in interrupted cycles (IC)

TT - TA - .25(UC) - .5(IC) = how many hours it felt like.
8.5 - 1 - .25(3) - .5(4.5) =

By these calculations, my total for last night was approximately 4.5. And that's how I feel.

How much sleep did you get last night?

Blah, I hate nights like that. Lately I've been getting almost full nights of sleep, but it's been a long time coming. Like, a year.

You are so great! I love the calculations. Though my math-less brain could not comprehend them well...I do understand your sad amount of uninterrupted sleep. (considering how often I wake to use the bathroom in the night, I dont come close to your exhaustion, but I do in some respects, understand...)

My wife is smart, funny, pretty, & tired - but more than pretty tired!

I'm totally impressed with your math! Unfortunately, I'm so out of it, I don't even have the presence of mind to define my variables! I think I may be around 3 hours?

...We're still working on our circadian rhythm here.

I had two hours of sleep last night, which is why Jim worked from home today...and why I don't understand your equation. I should probably stop blog surfing and go to bed... LOL
