Detox

I hate "vacations." Nay, I loathe "vacations."

Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy visiting with people I don't see very often. And I like to see familiar, meaningful places that welcome me as if they were old friends.

The thing I hate most is conforming to a schedule that is A) not my own and B) changes drastically every day.

I hate the (severe) lack of sleep and the impossibility of catching up, especially with a newborn. I do not deal well with sleep deprivation; I am completely aware of this. (Sorry, Bryan...)

I hate the (severe) lack of sleep in my children and the exponentially degenerative behavior that inevitably comes.

I hate conforming to a diet and exercise plan that is A) nonexistent or B) full of carbohydrates and fats. And I really hate that I do not have control over my children's diets because their sweet teeth cause sneakiness. And also add to the degenerative behavior.

I really hate that I can spend so much time with my husband and children and still come home feeling like I haven't seen them in a week.

I hate being away from my own house and the conveniences of having things where I like them.

So, while in this familiar place that will be my home for the next three weeks, we are going through rehab.

1. We will have a strict sleep schedule (taking a newborn into account, of course).
2. We will eat healthy foods and not fill up on sweet drinks.
3. We will exercise, watch far less TV, and play far fewer computer games.
4. We will notice each other and spend quality time together.
5. We will enjoy the conveniences of our home, at least until they're packed in boxes.

Are you guys moving again?

I can barely function at home in my own bed, with my own food, with a new baby so I don't blame you for not enjoying your "vacation." I think you probably would enjoy a true vacation--one without kids or relatives in some remote place with just you and Bryan! I'm glad we got to see you and that I got to hold sweet little Joseph!

Man, sounds like you need a vacation from your vacation from your vacation! I second the question: Are you moving? Did I miss something there?

I promise that one day when you guys come out to visit us, if nothing else, we will eat healthy foods. :)

Shalissa said it's two days of detox for every one day on vacation. Would you agree?
