- Stop signs (and stop lights) mean STOP, not "roll through" because a) no one is watching, b) you are in a hurry, or c) it doesn't apply to you.
- Speed limit. Need I say more?
- Turn into the closest lane, unless otherwise indicated by dots on the pavement. If there are two lanes, people turning left can turn at the same time cars across the street can turn right. If you turn into a lane further away, you could very easily cause an accident. Or just annoy the person who is trying to turn into their own lane.
- Don't tailgate. Maybe the person in front of you is just trying to go the speed limit. Or they have kids in the back seat. Don't blame them for driving safely.
- Don't change lanes in an intersection.
- Keep your focus on the road. Your eyes should be scanning constantly to see what others are doing. If you go from point A to point B and don't remember the drive between, then you were not paying enough attention.
- This goes without saying, but don't drink (smoke, do drugs, text, talk on cell, yell at kids, etc.) and drive.
- Wear a seatbelt.
- It's not a race. It's transportation. No road rage, please.
I believe that if people were to keep the traffic laws perfectly, there may still be accidents. But not nearly as many.
Please help my family be safe, and I will do the same for you.
And feel free to add your opinions to my list.

Brianne, I think you are funny. I agree with your blog but I must admit that I am guilty of a couple of those. Utah drivers are definitely interesting ones.
I agree with everything in this post!!! Kentucky drivers are the WORST too! Did people not pay attention in driving school??? Ok, I admit I'm not perfect, but at least I TRY. Should I add:
-USE YOUR TURN SIGNAL... and before you actually start turning.
-Pay attention at the 4 way stop signs! Wait your turn!
-If you're behind someone and they turn on their turn signal, don't speed up and pass them so you can get in the other lane first especially when you've made NO indication you were wanting to get in that lane in the first place.
OH I could go on forever. I get so annoyed with other drivers who don't follow the rules. I need to be better.
I agree with you whole-heartedly --- closest lane and no intersection lane changes! My pet peeve (traffic unrelated) is folks who call me ma'm over the phone. Do I honestly sound like a woman? Freak.
KY drivers are pretty bad... and you forgot to mention their merging disabilities onto circle 4. Congrats on Nana and the spoon!!
